Progress-has been and will be made.

I didn’t know if it was time to put up a “private” post but I have one written for whenever I have enough people to read it. I would really like to get it out soon but I’d rather have more people interested in reading because, even though I wrote it for myself and just needed to get it off my back, I do need some feedback. If I get a nice amount of comments saying they’d read it then I’ll think about putting it up soon. Better sooner than later.

Moving on:

Last night was the best night at work yet. Everything went smoothly and my trainer last night let me do a lot on my own. Something I’ve been wanting the entire time but I can understand why we’re (orientees) not suggested to. I gave a bath by myself- my trainer wasn’t even in the shower room with me. I have been feeding a couple of feeders on my own already but last night I took care of a whole table of feeders by myself. Melissa wanted to know why they were called “feeders”. “…shouldn’t it be the ‘feedees’ and you the feeder?” Good point Melissa and I’m not sure why. I just know that they are. Maybe because they require feeders? It’s something to ask my trainer when I work next Monday night. Thanks for the question! I encourage more.

After our last break of the night, before my trainer came back from smoking jogging, the aids were all standing around about to start “last rounds”. It’s where we make our last round of the night, checking everyone and making sure all is good and well. We do this about 10pm or so. Well, like I said M hadn’t come back from break yet and C had mentioned that I go head and start last rounds without M. I was a little hesitant but I knew I could do it. If there was something I needed help with M would be back soon enough. So I started by myself. AND the first resident I checked was wet and needed to be changed. AND I changed her. ALL BY MYSELF! I was just coming out of said resident’s room when M returned from break. I told her what I had just accomplished and she just beamed. All night she had been telling the other aids that I was the best orientee she’d ever worked with and she felt the need to tell some of them again. I felt like a little girl who was being praised for her art work that hung on the refrigerator for all to see. And it felt great. There are several things in life that I’m pretty good at and have been told so but this? It was just so much more rewarding. The only thing that could have made last night better happened about 10 minutes later. Another orientee, W, came into a room where M and I were changing a resident and said that the resident in room ### asked for me. By name. I was elated! I didn’t know any of the residents knew my name well enough to remember me at all, let alone want me instead of their own aid. Yea, this resident wasn’t even mine. I hope that didn’t make him or his trainer mad. I didn’t care at the moment tho. I was being asked for, being preferred. It was a great feeling.

I was suppose to work tonight but my trainer called in sick. She claimed that she got the stomach virus from a resident last night whom we had to change because said resident threw up all over herself. It was sad and nasty. They hoped that I wouldn’t get sick also but suggested I not come in just in case. I was looking forward to working but I really needed to get some things together and planned.

Tomorrow night Erin, Neil and I are going to see Twilight in theatres. CAN NOT WAIT! I’m going to get tickets for the 7 o clock showing this afternoon. That’s something I wasn’t going to be able to do if I was a work. Check that off my list.

My dad’s surprise birthday party is Saturday afternoon and I have to bake a couple of pies for it. I will do the shopping for that today also. Check.

Sunday evening is Erin’s Thanksgiving dinner at her apartment for all of our girlfriends. I’m suppose to make garlic mashed potatoes and maybe a pie or 3. I’ll make some head way on that. Check mate.

And last but not least, school. I have a take home test due Monday of that I’ve only completed half. I’ll need to finish that before this weekend’s festivities. Check o’la.

Although I didn’t spend any time with Emmy last night after work, as you can see I also didn’t blog. Here’s hoping this will make up for it.

I would read a private post from you :) I like reading and giving advice (provided you want/need it).

You’re having a Thanksgiving with your friends, too, awesome! We’re doing ours tomorrow night as well. I’m doing about 5 dishes but I’m looking forward to all the crazy cooking.

Great job at your job, school and being busy – you’re awesome :)
